BBQ Joints Sell Some Very Cool Bandanas – A Photo Essay
3 months ago
I have always loved bandanas, but I didn’t become borderline obsessed with them until my friend, a tremendously talented writer and photographer named Kelly Yandell, gave me a glimpse of a portion of her vintage bandana collection a little while back. I was blown away. It was then that I realized, through hours of fun research online thereafter, that the bandana world (both vintage and contemporary) is incredibly vast.
I also discovered that a number of BBQ joints sold their own bandanas. I began ordering up ones for myself as I stumbled upon them and collected a bunch to give to my bandana collecting instigator as a gift for her opening my eyes to this.
Below are photos of 13 bandanas from BBQ joints (and BBQ joint adjacent places) from across the United States along with a link to their online store so you too can get one for yourself. I have also interspersed photos of bandanas from Kelly’s own collection which she features on her new Instagram page entitled Bandana Cafe so that you can see some of the beautiful designs that are out there. Of course you should definitely follow Bandana Cafe because the bandanas that she features are SO unique (she includes detailed descriptions) and because Kelly is one of the best humans I know. It’s important to follow and support the good ones. Best thing is too, you’ll get inspired without even knowing it.
As always, I will continue to update these as I get more AND if you know of any spots I am missing please let me know.
