It's no secret that Philippe's The Original in Los Angeles(on the very edge of Chinatown near Union Station) is one of my favorite places on the planet. I have been going there since I was a child and actually stood in line with a number of friends for over 3 hours to get sandwiches at $ 1.10 each for their 110 year anniversary back in 2018. It's also one of the few places that I have had every menu item(more than once) and also take first time visitors to Los Angeles here because it's so special.
Philippe’s had initially closed due to the Coronavirus mitigation efforts and still holds the safety
of all staff and the public as the highest priority. They also needed to regroup.
Wonderfully, as of April 1st the are excited to announce that Philippe’s is back open for takeout & delivery for their famous French Dip sandwiches, sides and desserts(as well as beer and wine available to
go).
Simply call the restaurant at 213-628-3781 or order online via at ChowNow HERE for pickup. Delivery options are available from Postmates HERE. For pickup you can wait for your order in the parking lot where safe social distancing practices will be enforced.
All six of Philippe’s French Dips(Beef, Pork, Lamb, Turkey, Pastrami or Ham) are on the takeout and delivery menus available Wednesday through Sunday from 11AM to 7PM. Just like before, you can order single-dipped, double-dipped or wet with au jus and add(if you want) Swiss, American, Jack, Bleu or Cheddar cheese(I generally go double-dipped with Swiss).
Available sides on the limited menu include: Potato and Macaroni Salad, Coleslaw, Pickled Eggs, Beets, Stew, Chili, salad and a variety of desserts from brownies to cheesecake.
Beverages like coffee, soda, lemonade and iced tea in larger to-go sizes, as well as bottled beer
and wine, can be added to any food order.
Note that no breakfast will be available until the restaurant resumes dine-in service after the statewide
orders due to the COVID-19 outbreak end or are lifted.
